The Econo-Probe is now available with a fully compatable interface for the Tormach CNC systems. Plug and Play ready, merely plug the 5 pin DIN plug into the Tormach controller, set the software to Tormach Probe, Passive Version and you are ready for 3D scanning on your Tormach CNC machine. Select the Tormach Interface option when configuring your Econo-Probe order,

The Econo-Probe may be inexpensive, but it's far from being cheaply built.  Designed and manufactured by Wildhorse Innovations especially for the home machinist and small machine shop, this probe has the quality of products twice its price.  This 3-Axis touch probe can also be used as a tool height setter.  Conversion from the touch probe mode to the tool height setter mode can be accomplished in a matter of seconds.

Designed using the proven 3 point kinematical support concept, this rugged probe has adjustment screws to maintain accuracy over time.  Repair is easy in the event of a machine crash.  The probe is designed so that the low cost, easily replacable plastic contactor is sacrificed before extensive damage can occur.

The Econo-Probe interfaces easily to DROs and CNC systems.  The interface is a simple 3 conductor stereo plug.  The Econo-Probe interfaces with any device that uses a 1/8" stereo jack.  Adapters are readily available for devices requiring a different physical interface.

Now available with standard size (2" long) or stubby (1" long) probe tip. Specify in Options below.

Using the probe to locate the center of a hole.  Notice the LED which adds a visual indication of contact.

Removing the probe tip and spindle shaft turns the probe into a tool height setter.  Both the probe tip and spindle shaft are removed without tools by un-screwing them.

The Econo-Probe is available with either a 1/4", 3/8", 8mm or 10mm spindle shaft.  All spindle shafts are professionally hardened to C45 Rockwell. Custom sizes are available for 1/8"-1/2" for an additional charge.  Please select the desired spindle size in the options section below.

1/8" shafts are offered only as a convenience for customers who have machines with a fixed collet size of 1/8".  The 1/8" shaft lacks rigidity and may affect accuracy.  1/8" shafts may be ordered at the risk of the purchaser.  If the shaft proves to be unsatisfactory, the only remedy to the customer is to request a replacement shaft of a larger size.

If the "Custom Size" option is chosen, please include the size desired in the Customer Comments during check-out.

The following spare parts are available for the Econo-Probe:

Great probe and saves much time
"I had purchased this probe (And some spare parts years ago and it has performed great for my home hobby. Very well made and the contactors have worked for a very long time. Great design and product. I had been getting back into the hobby after a Hiatus and have decided to get a second probe so I can have one of each configuration ready to go."

Great probe and a timesaver!
"I've had my probe for a couple of years and use it almost daily in my fly fishing reel kit business. It has been a big timesaver and works great."
